Hmm ok.. this doesn't seem right to me at all. It's one thing to advertise a forum once, but it is another thing, even after I bring up your guys forum, to post a thread about members here going over there, and then "challenging" them to post in a thread.. What's the difference to you? You've already said you want to spread awareness.. and you did. Your attempt seemed to fail, as everyone here was satiated with what they possessed. Now it seems you are trying to brainwash with minute repetition. This just ain't don't seem right at all..

His triple posting gives off a devilish stench :D
Especially when all three in a row are about his forum.. which mind you, he is the administrator of. Also mind the fact that this thread was spontaneously created on the fact that I brought up his forum, and he started to try to sell it by saying things like "you can stream *and* post at the same time!!!@#!@#!111" I dunno.. just looks pretty odd to me.. why create a thread solely based on member that have just joined another forum? If I was him I would wait until they posted and ask those members there.. not on their home site

Nah nah.. I'm not at all.. i just wanted to make sure you knew where my opinion was coming from. Odd that its a she haha.. but anyways.. all i'm saying is.. once... once is okay to advertise.. but to bring up some other persons forum more than once? A bit odd, to say the least. I don't know how to describe it.. And i know all of you people that saw this forum grow up won't leave. I'd hope not ! =)

well, so here's where I clear the air...
first, I'm a girl! My name is Gina. Max you and I had talked a long while back, if you remember, and I thought you knew that. I don't own the forum, or any other, and I only said the word 'challenge' as a joke. kind of like I dare you... you know. I know people are shy about meeting new people and introducing themselves. The reason I'm here is simple....., I wanted friends to find something that's very important in my life, and rather an be stingy, I thought I would share and maybe someone else might enjoy what I'm enjoying. I love to trade music, and I'm looking for new friends to do that with. AND I was getting private e-mails from some of the people on this site over the last 3 days that have been asking me questions, and it seemed like a genuine, sincere interest, so it encouraged me to keep posting here and answering questions. Plus quite a number of friends here on archive have registered there at deadhook, and I would like to know who they are. If I've been talking with someone and I establish a e-mail relationship, I'd simply like to make sure it's them when I'm talking to them. Sorry if you feel like "I'm hijacking your little community" (those were YOUR words max the very first time we talked) but i am not. People are free to choose to do whatever they will. when someone says to me, this place is my home, I understand that. It doesn't mean your never welcomed somewhere else.

Of course I remember the first time we talked, it's why I bothered responding to this thread. Maybe I am a bit (yeah a bit right? heh) over-weary.. it just came across as a bit dominating. But then again, you are of the female species.

Max, while i always appreciate your perspective, and have myself little interest in other forums outside of this one, 'Dancinbears', apart from siding w/TTG, has always been gracious and kind-worded in her posts, and i have no problem with her posting her deadhook invitations here since its in the spirit of what, at the core, it's all about anyway ... the music and the vibe and the shared thoughts/music/words. Am i wrong? Anyway, peace brother.

Yeah.. I don't know.. Maybe I took it wrong.. it did occur when a lot of people were posting here bogus threads promoting their computer software, or something off topic.. but it just kinda struck in a way that well.. made me get a little territorial. But I understand it more now.. but then again this thread thew me off too so maybe i'm just loony! haha.. I see how it is a positive thing though, for sure..

Oh hey, don't get me wrong, way back (several weeks ago), when 'dancinbears' posted here inviting people to e-mail her, i read her post and responded thus: "Good luck and all. Seriously. Now, i can't explain it, but reading your post, i don't know ... i'm kind of creeped out by it."

For the very simple reason that it came across as sort of cultish (i know, i know), and you responded similarly right after me.

But since 'dancinbears' explained the reason behind her posting here, i guess i can appreciate her wanting to spread the love so to speak, whether here or there or up a tree or anywhere. Know what i mean?

Anyway, i did head over to deadhook and checked it out. I hope it flourishes for the very reason that there are a great many sites on the internet that leave much to be desired in terms of overall theme and purpose, and at least its serving the purpose of bringing some level of satisfaction and joy to its members (i suspect anyway). But as i mentioned to you in an earlier thread, it's not for me, as i love the craziness of this forum, the 'loony' members, the confusing threads and even the digression into other topics and themes. Anyway, them's my thoughts Max. Be of good cheer. Arbuthnot.

Hey folks, I for one found out about deadhook because of this thread. Kicked tires around their site for a little bit and signed up. Seems I barely find time to check this site out more than once a week, but I'm going to try there too. Please continue to share these sites for those of us who only have limited time to waste, er I mean spend on the internet. The Archive will always be in my favorites because of this kind of deal, its where it all began, all the people here who pretty cool (well most of them) plus who can beat the streaming?
Thanks,
Rat

Hey Guys! I'm very glad that there are no hard feelings, because I certainly didn't mean them. I'm laughing Max, because yes, maybe I am a little 'dominating'! =P Just like most women, I get on something, and then get carried away! But friends like Rat, and many more, might appreciate a place like deadhook, even once in a while. That was the true reason I ever posted.....Nearly every Deadhead out there stops in here at the LMA because this is where we stream the shows... and the sad truth is our numbers are getting smaller and smaller. But you'd be surprised at some of the young new heads I've traded with!! 18, 19, 20 year old kids in college just discovering the dead!! How cool is that?! ANY place on line, here or Deadhook helps them understand the scene since they won't ever experience the lots and shows the way we did. Spreading the love. That's it... that simple. But I will give you my word Max, I will tone down and maybe only every few months (does that sound like long enough gaps?), I'll pop in here and see if new folks would like the link over. I won't become a pest with it anymore.
Hope it's cool though if I'm here still just to chat.

welcome to the community here, Dancingbear. In "real" life I've been a bit of a recluse(!) and very shy, not much of a people person. Most of the shows I went to, I never interacted with other Deadheads other than the ones in my seating area, or friends I went with -passing and sharing various things. When I'd walk about between sets, I was an observer, lots of trippin on the scene, but rarely interacting. In that way, i was not a deadhead. I've interacted with more heads here than in most of my shows combined. I thought most of "them" were clickish-elitists. Turns out, that was me in most cases. If i can't give love, how can i receieve it?? Hell, it took me years before I ever even broke into a dance at a show.
(late 90's) I'd bet hard cash that I'm the oldest poster here by far, though I'm not sure...maybe old head Zimmer...
Just being at this forum has loosened me up 1000%. Well, never too old to "change"-(At least my 2cents worth). One of these daze, I'm going to hang out in the floor area and not just the seats...sorry to bare my pitypot constipated heart, I'm much better now-lol, And I'm blown away by all the very kind people here in spite of my occasional rants (sorry McClone)and conservative views. Toward morbidity, I don't want to die a lonely bitter man (damn! i have to stop listening to Black Peter so much)
Anyway, HAPPY TURKEY DAY!! from this turkey
